The National PTA Reflections program is PTA's cornerstone arts program. It was developed to encourage students to explore their talents and express themselves. Since its inception 50 years ago, the Reflections program has inspired millions of students to reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork.
Each year, students in Grades PreK-12, are recognized for bringing the theme to life in the following six categories:
A student may submit entries in more than one arts category but may only submit two entries per arts category and a total of five entries in total. For example, Phoebe submits five entries- one in musical composition, two in photography and two in literature. Joey submits five entries- one in dance choreography, one in film production, one in visual arts and two in visual arts.
All submissions will be due to Northfield by Friday, November 16th. This will be an at home project. Submissions may be dropped off at the Northfield front office the week of November 12-16. Each student entry must be accompanied by a paper student entry form, signed by a parent or guardian.
Use of Copyrighted Materials
Given this year’s theme and the normal prohibition on use of copyrighted materials, it is anticipated that images and references to certain characters, e.g., superheroes, will be submitted by students. National PTA has announced for this year that student renditions of such images are acceptable as long as the rendition represents a unique view of the copyrighted character that is the student’s own interpretation.
JudgingWithin each of the six arts categories, students will be judged based on Grade Division:
