It’s that time of year again! Kits are personalized for each grade with all of the supplies required by your children’s teachers for next year and are available for purchase online at:

Once you go to the website and enter this number, just pick which kit or kits you need, and relax until next year!

Online orders can be placed through June 22. We are unable to place late orders, so don't procrastinate! The kits will be ready for pick up at the Open House when your children get their teacher assignments or on the first day of school.

If you are feeling really ambitious, the teachers also put together a wish list of items they need for their classrooms. These are available as individual purchases and will be delivered directly to the teachers.

    Screen Free Week

All students at NES are always encouraged to choose healthy lifestyles. That's why, during this National Screen-free week, Mrs. Bello and Ms. Medina are focusing their lessons on the harmful effects of too much screen-ing and how to play more creatively.

We have displayed posters around the school reminding our students to use screen time in moderation, damages of excessive video gaming & TV time and many healthier alternatives to choose instead.  If your family is choosing to "Un-plug and Play" by during National Screen Free Week. Please email or write a letter to christi_bello@hcpss.org and your child will earn two Spring Rubies.

We are excited to announce that Northfield will be celebrating Start with Hello week from February 12-15, 2018.  During this week, we will be placing extra emphasis on the Start with Hello mission of empowering students to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness in our school.

This year, our theme will be “Start your day with Hello”.  We all know how important it is to start our day off on the right foot.  Positive interactions on the way to and at school increase the likelihood that a child will have a successful day where he or she feels a strong sense of connectedness, belonging, and engagement. Staff greet students at the door each morning and teachers greet students upon entering the classroom, but let’s ensure this simple practice starts even earlier—on the bus, on the bike path, and on the walking routes to NES! Throughout the week, we will be more intentional to model and highlight these positive interactions.

What’s happening during Start with Hello week?

    • Student-led morning announcements
    • Optional at home reflection: Why I choose to start the day with hello.
    • Parents, be on the lookout for a green flyer with tips to discuss tolerance and inclusion with your child at home.

    • Start your day with Hello Day!
    • Student-led morning announcements
    • Be on the lookout for VIP greeters on buses, bike paths, and walking routes leading to Northfield!

    • Student-led morning announcements
    • We Belong Wednesday - Students are encouraged to dress in rainbow colors to represent the differences among us that fit together to create a vibrant rainbow.

    • Monthly Start with Hello lunch with conversation starters.  Parents are invited to come into school to join the conversation! Students are encouraged to wear green, the color of Start with Hello.

    • Schools closed for students.

*** UPDATE: There will be a general vote on the bylaws on Wednesday, April 25th at 6:40pm at the Centennial High School lobby (outside the auditorium). ***

These are the proposed NES PTA bylaws, newly updated and amended. The changes, upon a general membership vote, will be implemented next year and carry through the year 2021. As per the National PTA requirement, we must update our bylaws every three years.

Please open each document and have a look at the bylaws and addendums. If you have any questions, comments, concerns please send an email to: rec_secretary@northfieldpta.org.

Thank you for looking over the updated bylaws and addendum! On Thursday, February 1st, the PTA is hosting a call-in vote to pass the updated bylaws and addendum. All paid PTA families are encouraged to call in and cast your vote!

To get the call-in information, please contact Amanda Rudy at rec_secretary@northfieldpta.org. In turn, you will receive the call time, phone number, and access code. Thank you for helping us better serve the NES community!
